Progress Records

Tracking and Celebrating Your Child's Growth

At Papilio, we believe every child is on a unique learning journey, and that families deserve to be meaningfully and consistently involved in it. Three times a year, our educators complete Progress Records that offer a detailed, thoughtful picture of your child's development, interests and achievements.

How We Observe and Record Learning

Throughout each day, our educators observe how children engage with their environment, peers and learning experiences. These observations build a clear, nuanced picture of each child's growth across key areas including cognitive, social, emotional, language and physical development.
When reviewing observations, educators reflect on questions like:

  • What learning is evident - is it new or different?
  • How is this learning meaningful for this child?
  • Are any particular interests or strengths emerging?
  • Are there areas where additional support would be beneficial?

Linked to the Lifelong Learning Curriculum and EYLF

Each Progress Record is assessed in alignment with our Lifelong Learning Curriculum, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and recognised developmental milestones. This ensures your child's learning is supported through intentional, research-informed teaching and experiences that are genuinely right for them.

Parent-Teacher Conversations

Once a Progress Record is completed, your child's educator will arrange a time to meet with you. These conversations are a meaningful opportunity to:

  • Hear about your child's learning, interests and achievements
  • Set goals together for the next stage of their development
  • Discuss school readiness and upcoming transitions
  • Raise any questions or observations in a warm, supportive setting

These meetings are one of the most important ways we work in genuine partnership with Papilio families, and we look forward to every one of them.
