CCS & the 3 Day Guarantee: What Papilio Families Need to Know for 2026

Over the past few weeks, many Papilio families have reached out with questions about the upcoming Child Care Subsidy (CCS) changes, especially the new 3 Day Guarantee starting in January 2026.

If you’ve been wondering how this affects your child’s days, your fees, or your routine, you’re definitely not the only one. We know how important it is to feel confident and informed, especially when it comes to something as personal as your child’s early education.

This guide breaks everything down simply and warmly, with answers to the questions Papilio families are asking right now.

1. Do I need to apply for the 3 Day Guarantee?

For most families, no.

If you're already receiving CCS, the 3 Day Guarantee will be automatically applied by Services Australia (as long as you're eligible).

There is just one key step: confirm your 2024-25 family income when Services Australia requests it.

This keeps your CCS running smoothly without interruptions. And if you need a hand, your Centre Manager or our Family Support Team is here to help.

2. My child already attends 3, 4 or 5 days. What does this change mean for us?

For families who already attend multiple days, nothing about your CCS will decrease.

The 3-Day Guarantee simply makes things more stable and predictable, even if your work or study hours change.

Your child keeps the same days, the same routine, and the same high-quality Papilio learning experience.

3. What if my child needs more than 3 days?

Great news - you absolutely can.

The 3 Day Guarantee is a minimum number of subsidised hours. If you need additional days, those extra hours will continue to be subsidised based on your regular CCS percentage, just as they are now.

So if your family relies on a 4-5 day routine, you can continue without disruption.

4. Will this make childcare more affordable for our family?

For families who only receive one subsidised day per week, the change can make a meaningful difference.

For families already attending multiple days, the biggest benefit is certainty, especially if your work schedule shifts or you’re planning big changes in 2026. It simply reduces the stress around losing subsidised days unexpectedly.

If you’d like a personalised estimate of what your fees might look like next year, your Centre Manager can go through it with you.

5. Should we secure our 2026 days now?

If you’re thinking about increasing days next year, it’s a good idea to start the conversation early.

January is always a busy enrolment period, and we expect to see increased demand when the 3 Day Guarantee comes into effect.

Even a simple message like: “We’re thinking about adding a day in 2026”
helps us plan ahead and gives you the best chance of securing your preferred routine.

Baby and toddler rooms fill fastest, so earlier is better.
